Case Study
Company:
The man is a self-employed farmer.
Disability and impairment:
The man is hard of hearing and only able to perceive acoustic information, e.g. spoken language and signals, to a limited extent. Due to his disability, audible information must therefore be amplified so that the man can hear it again - without amplifying noise so as not to further impair his hearing. He has a degree of disability (GdB) of 80.
Job:
The man works as a farmer in his company.
Workplace and work task:
The farmer works in the office and in the fields. As part of his office work, the farmer uses his hearing aids or their T-coil (telecoil) in conjunction with his telephone for better communication when making phone calls. The telephone receiver or speech sends a satisfactory electromagnetic field to the hearing aid's T-coil and the hearing aid converts it into speech without disturbing background noise. This form of using the T-coil for so-called inductive transmission is not possible with all telephones, as depending on the design, no or too low electromagnetic fields are generated.
With the help of an appropriate hearing aid program, which has been adapted by a specialist hearing aid acoustics store, noise can also be attenuated to a certain extent and speech can still be perceived. However, this was not satisfactory when driving and working with the loud tractor. For this reason, a tractor with a soundproof cabin was purchased.

Assistive products used:
Promotion and participation:
The costs for the usual and satisfactory hearing aids were borne by the agricultural health insurance fund as part of its statutory mandate for the general provision of assistive products.
The soundproof cabin and the additional costs incurred for the tractor were funded by the Integration and Inclusion Office, with advice provided by the Technical Advisory Service. Advice, measurements and adaptations of the hearing aids were carried out by a specialist hearing aid acoustics store.
also the addresses and telephone numbers of the integration and inclusion offices.
